What to Buy

We recommend that you purchase a uniform for your son as soon as possible after he is accepted into Troop 61. Each Scout is expected to have a uniform consisting of the following:

  • Long sleeve or short sleeve Scout shirt
  • Pants (long pants or shorts with Scout socks)
  • Belt
  • Shoes and socks
  • Hat (baseball style)
  • Neckerchief (provided at crossover)
  • Neckerchief slide
  • Scout membership Card

The scout is encouraged to earn some of the money for his uniform.

Which Uniform to Wear

Uniforms are defined as follows for Troop 61:

  • Class A: Full Uniform (all item listed above)
  • Class B: Scout pants (or shorts with Scout socks), with a Scout T-shirt, camp T-shirt, or Troop 61 T-shirt.
  • Class C: “Civilian” clothes - No Scout Uniform

The Class A uniform is to be worn to all Court of Honors, Troop meetings, formal activities such as parades, and any camp-out where another Scout unit will be camping with us (Camporees, etc.)

The Class B uniform is to be worn primarily during summer months (July and August) when it may become to warm to wear the Class A uniform or when activities may soil or damage the Class A Shirt and patches.

The Class C uniform is worn on outings where we will not be interfacing with Scouts from other troops or with the public.
