Emergency Preparedness Expo

The Knox Trail Council is putting on a fantastic expo to showcase all sorts of Emergency Preparedness Techniques. Many of these techniques can be applied to emergency situations you might encounter. Other techniques, demonstrations, and exhibits are just amazingly interesting and cool for scouts and parents alike.”Their demonstrations will include vehicle crash simulators, helicopters, burn trailers, evidence recovery units, SWAT teams, bomb sniffing dogs, robots, and much, much more!”

Please sign up at tonight’s troop meeting as slots for the Expo are going fast. This is an event for the whole family. Cost is $3 per person.

The Knox Trail Council Emergency Preparedness Expo should be a part of every unit’s fall calendar. Scouts and their families will embark on a day filled with valuable learning experiences. The Keefe Tech parking lot and athletic fields, 750 Winter Street, Framingham, Massachusetts, will come alive as a lifesaving forum on Saturday, September 16, 2006 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Cost is only $3 per participant.

The Emergency Preparedness Expo is designed to help Scouts in Knox Trail Council by raising awareness of emergency services available in the area, helping gain information about what to do in an emergency, and making resources available that can help save lives. At the Expo visitors will learn how to prepare for any emergency at home, at work or elsewhere, through hands-on courses, simulations and interaction with local emergency services. Many types of large rescue equipment will be on display.

At the Expo you will have a chance to learn tips from professionals in emergency services. Federal, State, County and Local police, fire and EMS agencies will be participating in this exciting event. Their demonstrations will include vehicle crash simulators, helicopters, burn trailers, evidence recovery units, SWAT teams, bomb sniffing dogs, robots, and much, much more!

Scouts will have the opportunity to complete requirements for a number of badges and awards by attending and interacting with the presenters. The day will be filled with unique opportunities for Scouts to gain expert knowledge that could help them save a life whether it is from a natural disaster, car accident or someone choking. This is a fun and exciting opportunity to educate Scouts on the importance of safety through interaction and by giving them the opportunity to ask questions.

Over 50 organizations, companies and individuals will be participating in the expo. They will be showing the latest emergency gear, holding exciting and informative demonstrations, and giving away tons of valuable information. There will be so much to see and do at this Expo it is sure to be fun for the whole family!

All Expo participants will receive a special commemorative Emergency Preparedness Expo patch as well as a limited-edition Knox Trail Council 10th Anniversary shoulder patch.
