Mount Monadnock on May 18th, 2019

A group of Scouts from Troop 61 hiked Mount Monadnock in Jeffrey, New Hampshire on May 18th, 2019. The preparation done by the group for hill climbing under the guidance of Brian Gregor, an adult coordinator for the trip, helped make the 4.5 miles of the total hike fun and relatively easy. The weather was favorable and by the time the Scouts reaches the summit the temperature was in the upper 60s. Described in a poem by Ralph Waldo Emerson as “Tower of observance searching space”, the view from the mountain did not disappoint at all. At the top of the Mountain the Scouts enjoyed their lunch and took pictures of the magnificent scenery. Hiking trips like the one described in this post are the best opportunity to appreciate nature’s beauty, bond with other Boyscouts, and get fit.
