Dear Summer Campers,

It is time to sign up for summer camp merit badges. This year signup is available via on-line registration so the sooner you get your choices to Anne Fogarty or myself the better chance you have of getting in to the merit badge classes you want.

I have attached a copy of the Summer Camp Guide and you will find the Merit Badge offering and schedule on Page 8 and the prerequisites on Page 6.

There are many, many fun badges and you get to choose 2 or 4 badges. Note that soem badges like Metal Working, Life Saving, Climbing and Small Boat Sailing take two periods. Also look carefully at the pre-camp requirements for each badge. Some badges like Personal Fitness and Environmental Sciences require substantial pre-camp requirements. It is nice to combine fun merit badges while also getting badges which help you towards Eagle Scout. First year scouts might consider both the Swimming and First Aid merit badges. Both are required for Eagle AND they fulfill many Second Class and First Class requirements. Another Eagle required merit badge is Emergency Preparedness and it appears that this is one you can complete at camp.

It going to be a fun week and whatever your choices are for Merit Badges you will learn something valuable, meet soem new Scout classmates, and have fun.
