Nantucket Bike Trip
The Nantucket Bike Trip is this weekend. There was a great deal of cooperation last week and most payments and permission slips were turned in. Some last minute planning is needed to make sure we get to the ferry on time:
- Attached is a roster showing payments made and permission slips turned in.
- For Scouts who have not paid payment must be made this Wednesday’s Troop meeting.
- Please bring cash for all payments since we do not have time to convert and cash checks.
- Trip costs are $50.00 for Scouts eighth grade or below, $60.00 for high school and above, including adults.
- Food costs are $9.00 per Scout in addition to the trip cost. Patrol food money will be given to patrols at the meeting.
- Adults going on trip will meet at Wednesday’s meeting to discuss their food menus for one dinner and two breakfasts. David Buckler has volunteered to buy one of the breakfasts. Lou Tieg and Don Lund will take care of buying the dinner. So we need a volunteer for the second breakfast. I suggest we collect $10.00 per adult at the meeting for the food purchases. There are 14 adults going.
- Adults will also work out the seating assignments for the trip from Sudbury at Wednesday’s meeting.
- On Thursday evening at 7:30 pm all the bikes need to be brought to the church to be loaded into a truck. You just have to drop off your bike and it will be loaded. The bikes are going to be packed tightly and if you have a concern about scratches perhaps a blanket type cover would be in order.
- On Thursday evening the patrols (and adults) will need to do their food shopping, for two breakfast and a dinner. We are going to travel light but if you need a small food cooler that can be carried from the car onto the ferry along with your personal gear then go for it.
- Try to do your packing ahead of time so you will absolutely ready by the time you go to school Friday morning. You should all have the packing list but if not there’s one attached. Remember to pack light. We have to walk a little distance to the ferry from the parking lot on Cape Cod. Knapsacks are recommended fro carrying the personal gear.
- The big crunch on this trip - and the reason for the incessant details - is that we need to make the ferry Friday evening in Hyannis. To do that we are leaving the church parking lot at 3:15 pm Friday afternoon. The group can’t wait on this one so please be at the church by 3:00 pm, and earlier if possible, fully ready to go and knowing which car you are going in.
- Please remember that you will need bag lunches for Friday night on the ferry and Saturday lunch. And you will need money for snacks, ice cream, and most especially for Sunday lunch during the two plus hour noontime ferry trip back to Hyannis. We don’t want anyone to go hungry. The attached Food.doc details the food and money needed in additional to what the patrols are buying.
